Don't let the green fees fool you! Many have assumed that Annapolis
Golf Club's low rates mean the course offers little or no challenge. Local golfers have known better for
years, and so will you after your first round!
Opened in 1928, this classic links style course, designed by legendary architect, Charles
Banks, is nestled in the quiet community of Annapolis Roads. Though a nine hole course,
AGC is "sloped and rated" for an 18 hole round. There are two sets of tee boxes on
each hole for both men & women, with the "back nine" playing longer and more difficult than the front.
AGC is challenging for the long ball hitter as well as the average driver, yet rewards
are measured by your ability to get the ball "up and down." The open fairways are deceptive, as approach shots
are played onto well protected elevated greens. Deep grass bunkers, reminscent of Old St. Andrews, surround the "postage
stamp" greens, requiring short game skill, accuracy, and finesse -- a reliable flop shot comes in handy here.
The natural setting and rolling terrain makes this course even more special. It is not unusual to have deer lope across
the fairway during your round. Red fox have been known to steal golf balls and hide them in their dens. Osprey occassionally
drop a fish or two on the fairways as they pass by with their catch from the nearby Chesapeake Bay.
AGC offers leagues, lessons, tournaments, glow ball events, and Wednesday Night Scrambles. Open to the public,
memberships are also available. Look for us in the US Golf Pass and other discount publications and programs.
Please call the Pro Shop for tee times and details. For golf lessons, please call and ask for Winnie Sewell.
